This was sorta an odd movie. The funniest scene is right at the beginning when Stillers friend tells him and Drew that she is pregnant. Which wouldnt be odd, except she is thin as a rail, but claims to be 4 months pregnant and her husband starts listening to her stomach.

I do not understand the ending. I understand it was all a scam, but why does the old lady pretend to be dead at the end. Is that just to make Stiller and Drew feel even worse about having to move out?

I wasnt laughing at the stuff I was suppose to be laughing at, I didnt care about any of the characters, and I couldnt stand the acting. It almost seemed like the horrible acting was intentional. Either way, it just seemed like the movie was trying too hard to be weird, which I didnt really care for.

Several friends told me they really liked this movie, so maybe I am just missing something.

September 25, 2004 Hunted, The Satellite #218
This was basically a poor remake of First Blood, and Del Toro isnt sympathetic. The movie also takes a turn towards total unbelievability near the end, with Tommy Lee Jones tracking Del Toro through a city on foot, just guessing every step of the way which way Del Toro would have gone. It also got a little out of hand when they both start making their own weapons.

September 25, 2004 Intolerable Cruelty Satellite #217
I had heard this wasnt a very good movie, so I went in not expecting much. But maybe poeple just thought it wasnt good for a Coen brothers movie, because I thought it was pretty good. Certainly not their best, but certainly watchable.

I found it unbelievable that Jones could dupe Clooney and get away with it legally the way she did. Seems like it would have been pretty easy to establish she was just out for money. But anyway, there are some funny scenes and I always like Clooney.

September 21, 2004 Heist, The Satellite #216
What the hell are Pierce Brosnan and Tom Skerritt doing in this movie? Man this is a bad one.

Brosnan seeking revenge on Skerritt, informs Skerritt that he is going to steal alot of money from him. Not only that, but the day and time he is going to steal it and from where. Apparently Skerritt is so retarded he cant stop Brosnan. Whatever.

September 19, 2004 National Security Satellite #215
I really like Martin Lawrence and Steve Zahn, but this was just retarded. I usually like the characters that Martin Lawrence plays, but in this movie you just want someone to kill him. I guess he was suppose to be funny, but you end up hating him so much you just want him to die.

Anyway, the story is bad and Lawrence and Zahn are not funny.

September 18, 2004 13 Going On 30 Satellite #214
OK, I have never seen Big, but I think I have now. This movie wasnt horrible, mainly because I really like Mark Ruffalo. I wouldnt say it was good, but it was entertaining for a Saturday afternoon.

September 18, 2004 Garden State Film #213
I wish I could say I liked this movie. It was well written, well acted, and well directed. But in the end, just way too depressing for me. It is no longer entertaining to watch movies about people with real life problems and tragedies.

September 15, 2004 Half Past Dead Satellite #212
There seemed to be some real moral confusion in this movie. All the bad guys are portrayed as really nice lovable guys and the good guys as cold and heartless. Going so far as to have one of the good guys turn out to be the main bad guy. Whats that all about?

The action was pretty stale with a bunch of rehashed stunts from other movies. Seagal was the same guy he plays in all his movies. The tortured sole that is an expert on everything, from rocket launchers to beating a lie detector. Somehow he cant shoot straight though, maybe because he is so old and fat.

The one bright spot was the suprise appearance of Stephen J. Cannell. He is not that great of an actor, but I am always reminded of all the great shows he created for me to watch growing up when he shows up on scren. I would like to hear the back story on why he would chose to be in this movie. Surely he can get himself into better movies than this.

September 11, 2004 Frailty Satellite #211
  Uhh, ok.

I ended up speed searching through some of this because it was so terribly redundant. I mean how many people did I have to watch them kill and see the kids debate what to do before I got the idea.

And in the end, what the hell was going on? Did they really have to concoct some retarded twists just to show us, that yes, those guys are really talking to god and killing demons? Why doesnt god just appear to everyone? Or atleast Bill Paxtons doubting son?

September 09, 2004 28 Days Later... Satellite #210
I dont know why I didnt give this 5 stars the first time I saw it. It is amazing and shouldnt be missed. Watching it on TV you lose the grainyness of it being shot on video and because of that you lose most of the creepyness, but still worth watching.

I guess I should not have been suprised. The ads did say this was about teens getting killed off by a horrifying flesh-eating virus. But I thought there would be something actually worth watching, because I mean who wants to see people die of a horrifying flesh-eating virus. How could that be entertaining.

Well, its not. And thats all the movie is about. Looks like it was written in about a day. The story is some kids go on a vacation and get infected with this horrible virus and then die.

Ok, so there was this movie in 1995 called Kids which I really hated. It was really well made and acted, but I wanted everyone to die at the end, preferably by flamethrower. Sadly, that didnt happen. Well, happily enough for me, everyone dies at the end of this one, not by flamethrower, but close enough. I remember seeing this movie as a kid and being scared by it for some reason. I particularly remember the scene with the karate guy and the end with the bad guy getting shot in the belly with a flare gun. A few years later Dead Calm one up them by shooting the bad guy in the mouth. I still fear the belly shot more.

Note to self, M. Night Shyamalan is fucking retarded.

Was the point of all the retardedness meant to show how retarded Mel Gibson was for getting his faith back at the end? Somehow I dont think so. Somehow I think we were suppose to believe all that crap was NOT some sort of coincidence. Hey asshole, it was or wasnt a coincidence that your kids life was saved because he has asthma, the only reason his life was in danger at all was because he HAD asthma. And the only reason anyone elses life was in danger was because they were fucking idiots. Hey Mel, aliens are attacking, you might want to fucking arm yourself and check your basement for holes you never noticed before.

I wont even go into how retarded we are suppose to believe the aliens are.

On top of all the retardedness, why did those assholes have dogs? Was it to show how much of an asshole Mel Gibson was? Yeah, you are about to be attacked by aliens, so you tie your fucking dog up and forget about him. Only an asshole would do something like that.

Anyway, more proof that any movie were the dog dies, sucks. Two dogs die in this one, so it really sucks.

Not nearly as inflammatory as I had expected. As usual, Moore presents some interesting and some not so interesting facts and adds commentary on some but not all of them. He also presents a bunch of questions, some important, some not important at all, and pursues none of them. I think Moore has Attention Deficit Disorder

Most of the debates I see about Moore's movies center around whether the facts he presents are true or not, which I always find rather silly. I think a more interesting debate is whether the facts, even if true, really mean anything. Which is what Moore's movies should concentrate on. Instead we just get a bunch of crap dumped on us and are expected to believe the conclusion he has come to.

Despite the lack of anything I hadnt heard before and the lack of answers for things I had. I did enjoy the editing quite a bit. But I am always a sucker for editing.

For the first half of this movie the editing is amazing. I was really impressed how they were able to continue to go back in time to reveal new things. But about half way through, it seemed like the editor started getting tired and the cuts got more and more sloppy. Even though NOT having the twist at the end would have made it more "Hollywood". Having the twist at the end put it into the "Dreaming?" category, which is much worse. Despite that and some big plot holes, I still liked it. Just very disappointed with the ending.

November 09, 2003 Daylight Satellite #149

November 08, 2003 Matrix Revolutions Film #148
Overall I liked this better than Reloaded, but not by much. I thought this was suppose to be the final movie in the series but it looks like the left it pretty much open ended to me. Not a whole lot gets resolved or really explained. I still hate the flying around, and it really got out of hand in this one. They needed to come up with something new to keep the story fresh, but it was just more of the same.

October 31, 2003 Day of the Dead Satellite #147

I like Jack Black and I always like kids movies. So no suprise I like this movie. It is totally unbelievable, but so what.

October 25, 2003 Kill Bill: Vol. 1 Film #145
Well, this is Quentin Tarantino's second most watchable film. Pulp Fiction being the first. Taratino is still trying to milk the idea of flashing backwards and forwards in time. He is pretty good at it, it was great in Pulp Fiction, but how about something new? I guess it was suppose to be comic book style, and I am not a big fan of comic books. So, I got a bit bored while watching Uma Thurman sword fight 80 guys and win. It is a little long winded when we already know she lives. I also do not appreciate the copout of not explaining anything that is going on. Maybe that is being left for part two. Thank god Taratino doesnt have a cameo, so we dont have to see his awful acting. Although there is still part two for him to show up in. I'm betting he shows up and is fucking retarded. Egomaniac. I do like this new trend of intentionally making multi part movies where they film both parts at the same time. Two hours isnt enough time to really tell a story and a four hour movie would be insane. I am sure there will be more of this in the future, and I cant wait.

October 25, 2003 Sexy Beast Satellite #144
I had heard this was a great movie, but I was still suprised by how great it was. The build up to Ben Kingsley's arrival is terrific and it just gets better from there. He was so terrifying, it was amazing.

October 18, 2003 Lost in Translation Film #142
This is certainly one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. One of the things that amazes me about movies is their ability to take me to another place and make me forget about reality. Few do it succesfully, but this one did. I had to see this at the Inwood Theater where every pseudo intellectual had to laugh at everything fucking thing Bill Murray said because since Bill is in it it must be a fucking comedy. Luckily after a while they got tired of laughing at stuff that wasnt meant to be funny and we could all watch the movie in peace. It has the same slow almost going nowhere pacing as Down by Law or Stranger than Paradise, and I love it. And even though I dont think its fair we do not get to hear what Murray whispers at the end, thats what makes the ending brilliant.

Interesting for the fact that it is based pretty closly on a true story. But not really that good overall.

October 04, 2003 Bowling for Columbine Satellite #139
Poorly put together. I liked the overall question Moore presents, "why are Americans so violent?" But there doesnt seem to be any logic to everything he presents. It's just a bunch of interesting or semi-interesting scenes strung together. And some that really do not make any sense, like why would he bother Dick Clark like that? And I am really not sure the point of asking Wal-Mart to stop selling handgun ammo.

September 30, 2003 Resident Evil Satellite #138

September 14, 2003 American Splendor Film #135

August 10, 2003 28 Days Later... Film #134
I am always a sucker for this story. I liked it in THE WORLD, THE FLESH, AND THE DEVIL and then again in The Quiet Earth. Although, I like this one the best out of the three. Basically because the explanation of how everyone on earth died and these few lived is more plausible than the previous two. It also has a more intricate plot. I was impressed with how the story continured to progress and evolve into more than just a battle against the infected. There were a few occasions that I thought they made the characters do stupid things that I dont think they would have done under the circumstances. But thats debatable.

August 09, 2003 Two Weeks Notice Satellite #133
Sometimes I just want some stupid movie to watch, and this fulfilled that criteria.

August 09, 2003 S.W.A.T. Film #132
This was not everything I was hoping for. I really wanted some simple setup for an excuse to have 2 hours of non stop action. What I got was a 1.5 hour story to setup 15-20 minutes of action. It wasnt bad, just not what I had hoped for. They missed a lot of chances to improve this movie, for example, it should have ended when they realized they still had to drive the guy to prison, setting up the possibiltiy for a sequel. I would also liked to have seen a longer getaway sequence. Instead the getaway was short and not all that action packed. Oh well.

July 25, 2003 G.I. Jane VHS #131
This seemed like the same story as Top Gun to me with the conflicts changed a little. Some rebel gets into elite combat school, almost get kicked out, then at the end has to use tricks learned in training in some small foreign conflict and becomes the hero.

July 20, 2003 Pirates of the Caribbean Film #130
Boring. I really like Johnny Depp, and I really liked his character in this movie, but for whatever reason I didnt care what happened to him or anyone else. Maybe if they had cut 45 minutes to an hour out, I can only watch dead people sword fighting for so long. There were a few funny scenes, but too few and too far between. Also, this was the first non digital movie I have seen on a digital screen. It looked ok for the most part, but fires looked a little goofy, rapid camera movement looked blurred (i.e. panning across crowds), the color red looked over saturated(i.e. the British soldiers uniforms) and aliasing is still a problem.

July 20, 2003 Capturing the Friedmans Film #129
Depressing but fascinating in the same way "Paradise Lost" is. It is terrifying to see the legal system abused by the police to railroad people and how easily it is done.

July 12, 2003 Spellbound (2002) Film #128
Kinda long, but it is interesting to see how much time and effort is put in to winning a spelling bee.

July 05, 2003 Terminator 3 Film #127
Not nearly as good as the first two, but fun to watch. There are some major plot holes. For example, how does the new terminator steer the remote control cop cars without being able to see them. I suppose GPS could be used, but are we suppose to believe that all cop cars have the ability to be remote control cars? Also, how does John Conner, Arnold, and Kate Brewster get into that top secret military base with all those weapons? Why do they steal all that gas and food when they should be keeping a low profile? Despite all the problems, it was still good times.

February 13, 2000 Hell is for Heros Cable #125
Man, hell is for heros. i wish people today had the balls to end movies the way this one ends. It just ends. Kinda reminds me of how Hell in the Pacific ends. No retarded voice over explaining what happened or whats gonna happen in the future. Also, this was Bob Newharts first movie. Kind of a strange start in movies for a comedian.

February 12, 2000 The Beach Film #124
This movie suffered from what I feel many movies suffer from. They have a great idea, but have no idea how to end it. I really liked this movie up to a certain point. After which i became more and more disinterested.

February 02, 2000 8mm Cable #122
Saw the last hour and a half on cable. I could not tell if this was suppose to be a drama or a comedy. The fight scenes where so outrageous I kept having flashbacks to They Live. Only problem is Joel Schumacher is not John Carpenter.

January 23, 2000 Magnolia Film #121
I was actually pretty disappointed in this movie. After Boogie Nights I would have expected something a little more than a juvenile attempt at symbolism. And atleast two of the stories of coincidence at the start of the movie are not only fake, but were stolen off the internet. They apparently could not make up their own stories. The movie was incredibly well made, so well made I was distracted by how much time and effort the put into setting up the scenes. And then had to wonder why they didnt spend atleast some of that time making me care what happened. Maybe they thought linking up all the characters somehow, throwing in some symbolism, topping it all of with an unlikely event and trying to make it all sound plausible with references to urban legends taken off the internet would make for an interesting movie. Well, I could have cared less what happened to those people. But what do I know, I think First Blood is a good movie.

I wish Private Ryan had been more like this. There are a bunch of scenes that just seem to start at the end of a conversation. Kind of interesting technique. As I was leaving the theatre I kind of felt the way I did when after seeing Full Metal Jacket. I liked Platoon, but after seeing FMJ, I realized just how lame Platoon really was. Private Ryan was not as bad as Platoon, but it definetly had some lame moments.

Tony Scott films are always fun to watch. As with all of his films Enemy has a interesting plot with totally unbelievable elements thrown in with some bad jokes thrown in for good measure. I feel like he is saying this movie is not to be taken seriously. I hope I never see a interview with him talking about how serious and important his movies are. That would make it impossible for me to enjoy his movies ever again. So if you liked The Last Boy Scout and Top Gun, which were retarded almost to the point of making fun of machismo, then you will like this movie.

May 23, 1998 Fear and Loathing Film #52
Johnny Depp as always is great in this movie. So is his side kick Benicio Del Toro. It stays pretty close to the book. What I remember of it anyway. People have said that this movie glorifies drug use. I dont see how.

May 17, 1998 Everest IMAX #51
It is what it looks like. Mt. Everest in IMAX. Excellent!

May 16, 1998 Sliding Doors Film #50
  What?

April 25, 1998 The Big Hit Film #49
I saw this in Miami. It was about what I had expected. But, Lou Diamond Phillips was made for this role. He is the worst actor in Hollywood, but he was amazing in this movie. Mark Walhberg was great too.

April 17, 1998 Object of My Affection Film #48
  No killin in this one.

April 11, 1998 Vally Girl Tape #47
I had actually never seen this movie before. It was excellent. Chef from Apocalypse Now was my favorite character. It was funny as sheiite.

April 03, 1998 U.S. Marshalls Film #46
  Go see The Fugitive.

March 28, 1998 Big Lebowski Film #45
Not nearly as good as Fargo, but still really good.

February 28, 1998 Brassed Off Tape #44
The box said this movie was suppose to be a comedy. It was not. It was ok. It is a British political movie. I do not know much about British politics, so I do not know what to think.

February 21, 1998 Wag the Dog Film #43
There are some funny moments. It would be worth seeing on cable. I do not think it was in the top ten movies of 1997, like Siskel & Ebert do.

February 16, 1998 Sphere Film #42
Crap. This movie presents a compelling sci-fi plot, but degrades into a silly, unbelievable mystery, that the audience figures out long before the people in the movie do. So, you just sit there waiting for them to figure it out. Then the movie is over.

February 14, 1998 Titanic Film #41
Very well made movie about a very disturbing event. This movie just seemed like an excuse to show how these people died. I am not sure I needed to see it. I have heard that several stuntmen died while making this movie. I do not know if it is true, but if it is, how sad to die showing how someone else died. What a waste.

February 06, 1998 Replacement Killers Film #40
This was pretty good. Chow Yun-Fat is a badass. There seemed to be a lot of running around and shooting without very much killing. The action scenes could have been a little more consistently exciting.

February 04, 1998 Zero Effect Film #39
I thought this was great. Bill Pullman was hilarious. Despite the comic elements in this movie, it is mainly a mystery and a love story. All of which was very interesting. I always like Ben Stiller.

February 02, 1998 Desperate Hours Film #38
Fairly generic and implausible. It had pretty cool opening credits, that made the film seem promising, but it was all down hill from there.

January 30, 1998 Killing time Film #37
Craig and I walked out of this movie after 30 min.

January 24, 1998 Trees Lounge LaserDisc #36
Some funny scenes. Has lots of good, less popular actors. A cool example of how you can make a low budget movie if you have lots of connections.

January 22, 1998 Hard Rain Film #35
Lots of unexplainable things in this movie. I like the idea, but poor execution.

January 20, 1998 Fallen Film #34
Interesting ending. Denzel Washington should have been a little more freaked out by what was happening.

January 09, 1998 Firestorm Film #33
  Unbelievable.

January 05, 1998 Good Will Hunting Film #32
  Not for the emotionally shutdown.

January 01, 1998 Jackie Brown Film #31
This is the most ridiculously long and absurdly boring movie I have ever seen. Although, it has inspired me to start writing my own movie. It will be about a guy taking a crap in a public restroom. There will be really realistic dialog, like Hey guy, you ok in there. Yeah. Just wiping his ass will take 45 minutes of screen time. When he is done, after washing his hands he will walk out into the store, which will be being robbed. The star will be shot dead. When the police arrive they will check his ID. His name will be DooDoo Brown. Which is also the working title. This will be the movie that proves to the world Yes I can neither write nor direct. I should give this movie only one star, but I know there are some people who will like it no matter how bad it is.

December 28, 1997 Amistad Film #30
A little drawn out at times, but pretty good.

December 28, 1997 MouseHunt Film #29
I liked this almost as much as Rocket Man

December 20, 1997 Tomorrow Never Dies Film #28
Pretty fun. About the same as Golden Eye

December 13, 1997 Kiss or Kill Film #27
This was really good. Does what Quentin Tarantino wishes he could do, and parodies him while doing it.

November 30, 1997 Alien Resurrection Film #26
  Wow, this was really shitty.

November 21, 1997 Boogie Nights Film #25
This is one of the best movies of the year.

November 15, 1997 Starship Troopers Film #24
Does not make any sense, but fun to watch. Just like most Paul Verhoeven films.

November 01, 1997 Gattaca Film #23
This was a ton better than I was expecting. It had some really stupid Hollywood moments, but it looked cool, and I thought it was a interesting story.

October 19, 1997 L.A. Confidential Film #22
A well made, interesting Hollywood movie. Worth seeing.

October 18, 1997 Purple Moon LaserDisc #21
This is a real old movie that just recently came out on LaserDisc. It is kind of boring, but I thought it was worth watching.

October 12, 1997 Most Wanted Film #20
This was a fairly dumb action movie. Good for a Sunday afternoon.

October 11, 1997 Kiss the Girls Film #19
This was real bad. Another movie where they did not bother to write a script that makes any sense.

October 11, 1997 Rocket Man Film #18
This is the funniest movie I have seen in a long time.

October 09, 1997 Mission to Mir IMAX #17
  It is an IMAX movie.

October 04, 1997 The Matchmaker Film #16
  Crap!

September 27, 1997 The Edge Film #15
Two guys in the woods fighting a bear with pointy sticks. I would like any movie with a scene like that.

September 20, 1997 Shes So Lovely Film #14
  What the hell is this?

September 20, 1997 The Peacemaker Film #13
This was cool. George Clooney is a badass. There are some parts that do not make sense. But there are some great action scenes, that more than make up for that. A really stupid ending.

September 13, 1997 The Game Film #12
This is fun to watch. Totally unbelievable, but you do not know that until the very end. Whoops!

September 06, 1997 Excess Baggage Film #11
Haven and I saw this movie

August 08, 1997 Conspiracy Theory Film #10
Haven and I saw this movie

August 03, 1997 Ulees Gold Film #9
Me and Haven saw this movie at the Cinemark Hollywood theatre Sunday afternoon. There was an old man behind us that would shout out words he saw on screen. Camry! 911! Bees, Honey bees!! He would say. This was a really good movie, especially for a low budget movie. It looked like it was filmed on Super16. The acting is not the greatest, but its forgivable. The wife from Home Improvement is in it and she is not annoying. Peter Fonda became more and more like Henry Fonda as the movie progressed until he was Henry Fonda. Kind of scary. I highly recommend this film.

August 02, 1997 Nothing to Lose Film #8
Me and Haven saw this movie at the UA Northpark I&II on a Saturday night. There were not to many people there which was nice. I actually liked this movie, but I also happen to like Tim Robbins a lot. The funniest scene in the movie is at the start, but there are some other pretty funny scenes. It is not a great movie, but is not horrible either.

July 28, 1997 Air Force One Film #7
Me and Haven saw this movie after we got back from visiting my parents in Kerrville. It really sucked! I have not been this mad about seeing a movie since Leaving Las Vegas. Do not see this movie!

July 19, 1997 The Van Film #6
I have to admit I could not understand a lot of what was said. I am terrible with accents, especially real ones. In general I do not like movies where a dog dies, but this movie is alright. Nothing special.

July 11, 1997 Contact Film #5
Haven and I saw Contact on 7/11/97 at 10:15 at Northpark I & II. I liked it a lot. I may have just liked the story so much that I ended up liking the movie. Either way I really liked it. The only thing I did not like was the totally stupid inquiry scene at the end. I do not understand why Jodie Foster was suppose to shoulder any blame. It would be like yelling at the Apollo13 astronauts after they got back. How would it be their fault? Also, the whole inquiry hinges on the fact that James Woods could conceal the data gathered from the mission. Not very likely. Then the data shows up in a report after the inquiry. What the hell is going on? Everything leading up to that retarded scene is really good. The transport scene and other computer effects are not that impressive, but there are some incredible camera tricks early on in the film. The movie is two hours and thirty minutes long, but it does not seem half that long.

June 29, 1997 Face/Off Film #4
I saw this movie with Wynne in Austin. We tried to see it three or four times and every time it was sold out, but we finally saw it. The first forty five minutes sucked, the middle forty five minutes were real good, and the end was ok. Over all it was a ton better that Broken Arrow. The best parts are when John Trovolta and Nicholas cage switch lives. Comedy ensues. There are also several really great stunts involving a speed boat at the end. Definitely worth seeing if you like action movies. My favorite scene is the scene where they say face off about six times in a row.

June 06, 1997 Con Air Film #3
I saw this with Tim and Scot at the Grand at 1 am the night it came out. It was fun. The action scenes were cool even though they got ridiculous at times. Oh well. The movie also seemed to make elusions to movies that the actors had been in, but I could not tell if this was intentional. This is the kind of movie that is only good in a theater, so do not try to watch this on TV.

May 31, 1997 Grosse Point Blank Film #2
This was one of my favorite movies this year. I saw it three times. It was funny as shiite. I really liked Cusacks old friend and the crazy guy that became a security guard. Some people have said that it made light of killing people. I think the opposite. It was really awful when Cusack killed people. It was really depressing when he went to see his mother in the mental place. I think people get confused when a movie is both funny and serious. They are not sure when they are suppose to laugh, so they just assume it is all suppose to be funny.

May 28, 1997 The Lost World Film #1
I saw this with Haven and her friend Joe. The plot was stupid, and the acting was poor. But the special effects were great. I liked the T-Rex running around San Diego. That was totally absurd. The little girl fighting the dinosaurs with gymnastics, was incredible. If you can see this in a theater, it is worth it. Just do not expect anything, but neat effects.
